A gelatinous species that can eat almost anything and survive nearly anything, best known for the cheerful Murf of the USS Protostar crew.
Mellanoid slime worms are gelatinous creatures that can eat nearly any material and survive extreme conditions that would destroy other organisms.
The best known is Murf, one of the young prisoners on Tars Lamora who escaped aboard the USS Protostar. Though he communicates with sounds and gestures rather than speech, he became a loyal member of the crew, a good friend to his shipmates and an asset in a fight.
