A large, rock-skinned and immensely strong species, represented in Prodigy by the young science officer Rok-Tahk.
The Brikar are a humanoid species with huge, rock-like bodies and enormous physical strength. On screen they are represented by Rok-Tahk, one of the young prisoners on the mining colony Tars Lamora who escape aboard the USS Protostar in Star Trek: Prodigy.
Rok-Tahk is only eight years old when the series begins, and her size and strength lead others to treat her as muscle. In fact she is shy and gentle, and she turns out to be a gifted scientist with a strong affinity for animals. She becomes the Protostar's science officer and later studies xenobiology.
Rok-Tahk forms a close bond with the slime creature Murf. In the episode A Tribble Called Quest, she accidentally creates a hybrid of a tribble and Brikar, which she adopts. Her story challenges the idea that a powerful-looking species must be suited only for fighting.
