Damar is a Cardassian officer who appears in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He is first seen as an aide to Gul Dukat, a loyal and somewhat unremarkable follower who is often dismissed by others, and he rises when Dukat falls from power.
As the Cardassians join the Dominion, Damar becomes the leader of his people, but he is quickly made a puppet by the Dominion and the Vorta. His growing disillusionment and his struggle with alcohol lead him to rebel, and he forms a resistance movement with the help of Kira Nerys and others. His role in the Cardassian uprising is critical to the eventual victory over the Dominion.
Damar is remembered for one of the franchise's most striking redemption arcs, a man who grows from a servile subordinate into a courageous rebel leader.
