Dukat and Sisko are stranded on a planet together.
Sisko travels on the USS Honshu with Dukat, who is being taken to face war crimes charges after a breakdown over Ziyal's death. Cardassian ships attack, and Sisko wakes injured on a barren planet where Dukat has tended his wounds in a cave, assuring him a distress signal is being sent. Dukat is in fact hallucinating Weyoun, Damar and Kira, who mock and goad him, and the beacon is not working.
Sisko repairs it, Dukat destroys it and beats him, and Sisko then pushes Dukat until he admits his hatred of the Bajorans and his wish that he had killed them all. Dukat escapes in the shuttle vowing to destroy Bajor, but signals the Defiant so it can find Sisko, who swears to stop him. The sixth-season episode is largely a two-person drama that marks Dukat's turn into an open villain and sets up his later alliance with the Pah-wraiths.
