In 2375 Legate Damar led a Cardassian uprising against the Dominion that helped bring about its defeat in the Battle of Cardassia.
By 2375 Legate Damar, once Dukat's aide, had come to see that the Dominion was treating Cardassia as a conquered world. He began a resistance movement by destroying a Dominion cloning facility. The Federation sent Kira Nerys, Garak and Odo to help him, and Kira taught the Cardassians the tactics the Bajoran resistance had used against them.
The Dominion struck back hard, killing Damar's family and destroying Lakarian City. The rebellion was nearly wiped out, but Damar called on ordinary Cardassians to rise against their occupiers, and they did.
During the Battle of Cardassia, the Cardassian fleet turned against the Dominion in the middle of the fighting. The Founders ordered the extermination of the Cardassian people, and hundreds of millions were killed. Damar led an attack on Dominion headquarters and was killed, but his rebels captured the Female Changeling.
