Gwyn's bid for Solum's trust fails when she is framed as a threat, and she flees to reunite with a younger Ilthuran.
A year after averting Starfleet's destruction, Dal, Rok-Tahk, Jankom Pog, Murf and Zero have been recruited by Admiral Janeway to serve on the new USS Voyager-A, but they feel sidelined, unable to work with her directly and snubbed by Nova Squadron and its Vulcan leader, Maj'el. Snooping where they should not, they learn Janeway secretly plans to rescue Chakotay using a cloaked ship called the Infinity. Maj'el overhears and tries to stop them, and in the struggle the Infinity activates and is pulled into the wormhole early.
On Solum, meanwhile, Asencia convinces the Vau N'Akat leaders that Gwyn is a threat, and they order her capture. Gwyn escapes and reunites with Ilthuran, the younger self of the Diviner before the years that corrupted him. The second half of the second-season premiere sends the cadets through the wormhole after Chakotay and sets up the time-travel paradox that drives the season. Aaron J. Waltke wrote the episode.
