A Tellarite who joined the Protostar crew.
Jankom Pog is a Tellarite engineer and one of the young recruits who find a derelict starship in the animated series Prodigy. Gruff, sarcastic and fond of tinkering, he becomes the crew's technical specialist, keeping the ship flying with improvised repairs and a great deal of complaining.
He begins as a prisoner in a mining operation alongside his future crewmates and gradually becomes a dependable friend. His blunt manner hides real loyalty, and his arc shows him taking pride in his skills and growing more confident. He often trades barbs with the others, particularly in tense situations, but he steps up when it counts.
As a Tellarite, he reflects the species' reputation for argumentative, outspoken behavior, while giving that reputation a sympathetic, youthful face. He is a good example of how the show lets a new generation learn what Starfleet ideals mean in practice.
