A Klingon general who was held in a Dominion prison camp.
Martok is a Klingon general in Deep Space Nine, played by J. G. Hertzler. He first appears in The Way of the Warrior, but that Martok is a Changeling impostor who has been steering the Klingon Empire into conflict with the Cardassians and the Federation; the deception is later exposed.
The real Martok is found in a Dominion prison camp, where he has been held for about two years. He escapes with Worf, Garak and Bashir and returns to the Klingon forces, taking command of the Rotarran with Worf as his first officer. He welcomes Worf into the House of Martok, and Worf's wedding to Jadzia takes place under his house despite the objections of his formidable wife Sirella.
As the Dominion War continues he becomes one of the alliance's key commanders. When Worf kills Chancellor Gowron for recklessly sacrificing Klingon forces, he names Martok chancellor in his place.
