The crew has its memory wiped and is put to work.
Janeway starts a new job at a power plant on an industrial world, happy in her work and drawn to a co-worker, Jaffen. Tuvok, Tom Paris, B'Elanna Torres and Seven of Nine, who is now Annika Hansen, the plant's stern efficiency monitor, also live and work there, with no memory of Voyager. Only Tuvok senses something is wrong, and a doctor treats him for a supposed mental condition.
Chakotay, Neelix and Harry Kim return from a mission to find Voyager almost empty and run by the Doctor. The ship was disabled by a mine, and the crew were abducted, their memories altered and their labour put to use. Chakotay has his face altered to pass as a local and goes down to the planet, where he and Neelix manage to bring Torres back to the ship, though Chakotay himself is left behind. The seventh-season two-parter is a story about identity and what the crew might want without Voyager.
