Dax and her previous hosts' personalities meet in a ritual.
Jadzia undergoes the zhian'tara, a Trill ritual in which the memories of past hosts are placed temporarily in other people so the current host can meet them. Kira, O'Brien, Leeta, Quark, Bashir and Sisko take on Lela, Tobin, Emony, Audrid, Torias and the murderer Joran, who tries to kill Jadzia while in Sisko's body.
Odo takes Curzon and enjoys it so much that he refuses to give up the memories. Jadzia confronts Curzon and learns that he had failed her as a candidate because he had fallen in love with her. Curzon finally leaves Odo. In a subplot, Nog takes a test as a step toward Starfleet Academy.
