A doctor on Discovery and Stamets's partner.
Hugh Culber is the chief medical officer of the USS Discovery in Star Trek: Discovery. He is a kind and perceptive doctor and the partner of Paul Stamets, and he is one of the most emotionally grounded members of the crew.
In the first season, he is killed by Ash Tyler, a shocking turn that devastates Stamets and the audience. He is later brought back to life by the mycelial network, and his return is a source of wonder and difficulty as he struggles to understand who he is now. His relationship with Stamets is tested and eventually renewed, and the two help to raise Adira. He also gains a close friendship with Michael Burnham and others on the ship.
Culber is remembered as a compassionate and deeply human healer, and his story is one of recovery, trust and enduring love.
