A people from the Delta Quadrant who are friendly with Voyager.
The Talaxians are a small, round-faced humanoid species from the Delta Quadrant, native to the planet Talax and its moon Rinax. They are known for their cheerful temperament, their good humour and their love of good food and company. Their appearance includes a distinctive pattern of facial markings.
Talaxian society is friendly and sociable, and they tend to be energetic and excitable. They are expert traders and cooks, and their culture takes great pleasure in the simple joys of life. They had long been at war with the Haakonians, which cost them dearly.
The Talaxian best known to viewers is Neelix, who joins Voyager as its cook and morale officer, and acts as a guide to the Delta Quadrant. He is joined by Kes, with whom he has a relationship, and later by Seven of Nine. Neelix lost his family in the war with the Haakonians, which colours his outlook. His determination to be useful on Voyager makes him a warm and valued member of the crew.
