Voyager revives the Vaadwaur, a people asleep for nine centuries, only to find they were once a menace to the whole region.
Voyager is pulled from a network of underspace corridors by the Turei, who demand that the crew erase their knowledge of the network. When Janeway refuses, Voyager is attacked and hides on a radiation-swept planet where Seven of Nine finds hundreds of aliens in stasis since their world was bombed some nine hundred years earlier. Without waiting for orders, she wakes their leader, Gedrin, of the Vaadwaur, who says his people were attacked for their knowledge of the corridors.
Janeway agrees to help revive the Vaadwaur in return for their aid, but Neelix and Seven learn from Talaxian legends and Borg records that the Vaadwaur were once conquerors who used the corridors to invade other worlds. The Vaadwaur try to seize Voyager, and Gedrin, siding with the crew, dies helping Voyager and the Turei fight them off. Dozens of Vaadwaur ships escape. The sixth-season episode is named for the Greek myth of soldiers grown from dragon's teeth.
