In 2151 Andorian soldiers led by Shran stormed the Vulcan monastery at P'Jem, and Captain Archer uncovered the hidden Vulcan sensor station the Andorians suspected was there.
Enterprise arrived at P'Jem for a visit just as an Andorian force took the monks hostage, convinced the sanctuary concealed a Vulcan listening post. Archer and Trip Tucker were captured and questioned, but Archer explored the monastery and found a long-range sensor array hidden beneath it.
Rather than help the Vulcans keep their secret, Archer gave Shran the evidence he needed and the Andorians withdrew. The incident embarrassed the Vulcan High Command, began Archer's uneasy relationship with Shran and set the stage for the monastery's destruction the following year.
