The homeworld of the Kelpiens and the Ba'ul, visited by Discovery in season two.
Kaminar is the homeworld of the Kelpiens and the Ba'ul. On the surface, Kelpiens live in simple villages and see the Ba'ul as predators who take some of their people, while the technologically advanced Ba'ul stay hidden and watch the villages through their towers.
Saru grew up there and left by contacting Starfleet in secret. In the Discovery season two episode The Sound of Thunder, Saru returns home after undergoing vahar'ai, the change that Kelpiens had been taught led to madness. He learns that the change actually frees Kelpiens from fear and that, long ago, Kelpiens had dominated the Ba'ul.
The Ba'ul had culled Kelpiens ever since to stop them reaching that state again. When the Ba'ul try to wipe out the Kelpiens, the Red Angel intervenes, and all the Kelpiens on Kaminar go through the change. Saru's sister Siranna, who had stayed on Kaminar as a village priest, joins him in seeing their people freed.
