A resistance movement of Federation colonists and sympathisers who fought the Cardassians after their worlds were ceded to Cardassia.
The Maquis formed in the 2370s among Federation colonists in the Demilitarized Zone, whose homes were placed under Cardassian control by the treaty ending the Federation-Cardassian War. Refusing to leave, they armed themselves and fought Cardassian forces, and Starfleet came to regard them as outlaws.
Its members included Calvin Hudson, Chakotay, Ro Laren and Michael Eddington, all of whom had ties to Starfleet. The movement was largely wiped out by the Jem'Hadar after the Cardassian Union joined the Dominion in 2373.
