The Vulcan woman bonded to Spock in childhood, who invokes the challenge during his pon farr to free herself to be with Stonn.
T'Pring was joined to Spock in a telepathic bond when both were seven years old, a betrothal arranged so that they would marry when he came of age. In Amok Time, Spock is gripped by pon farr, the Vulcan mating drive, and the Enterprise rushes him home for the marriage ritual presided over by T'Pau.
At the ceremony, T'Pring claims the right of challenge and chooses Kirk as her champion, forcing him into a fight to the death with Spock. She later explains her cold logic: she wanted Stonn, and whichever man won, she would be free of a husband she did not want, either because Spock would reject her or because Kirk would have no interest in her.
T'Pring was played by Arlene Martel. The character returns in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, which depicts her engagement to Spock years before the original series and their attempts to make the relationship work.
