B'Elanna fears for her unborn child.
B'Elanna Torres learns that she is pregnant, and when a scan shows that the baby girl will have Klingon features, she is shaken. Flashbacks recall her childhood as the half-Klingon daughter of a human father who left the family, and the teasing she suffered for her appearance.
Torres becomes determined to alter the child's genes and secretly reprograms the Doctor to carry out the procedure. Paris and the Doctor stop her, and in an emotional talk Paris convinces her that he will not leave as her father did. She agrees to let their daughter be born as she is.
