Seven falls in love in the holodeck.
Seven of Nine has been using the holodeck to practise being more human, attending a simulated baby shower for Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres and beginning a romance with a holographic Chakotay. In real life she skips the shower. Meanwhile Janeway asks her to find a way to detect warheads that have been striking a nearby beacon and nearly hitting Voyager.
Seven begins to blur her two lives, treating the real Chakotay and her crewmates in odd ways and losing her temper with Icheb, and when she falls behind on her task, another warhead rocks the ship. After the holographic romance causes her implant to fail, she gives it up and finishes her work. The Doctor finds that her implants shut down by design when a drone regains emotions, but Seven declines the surgery to remove them. The seventh-season episode hints at the Seven and Chakotay romance seen in the finale.
