Q leaves his unruly teenage son with Janeway, hoping that time aboard Voyager will teach the boy responsibility before the Continuum punishes him.
Q arrives with his son, a rebellious teenager whose pranks have caused such chaos that the Continuum threatens to turn him into an amoeba. Q leaves him on Voyager for Janeway to teach, and the Continuum strips the boy of his powers. After a stern talking-to from Janeway, he improves and befriends Icheb.
When his father seems uninterested in his progress, the young Q steals the Delta Flyer for a joyride with Icheb, and an alien weapon leaves Icheb near death. Q refuses to help, but when the boy goes with Janeway to face the alien ship and takes the blame, the crisis proves to be a test staged by Q, and Icheb is unhurt. When the Continuum still moves to exile his son, Q threatens to leave it too, and the boy's powers are restored on condition that Q keeps custody. The seventh-season comedy casts John de Lancie's son Keegan as Q's son.
