The unnamed Founder who spoke for the Great Link and directed the Dominion's war against the Alpha Quadrant until Odo persuaded her to surrender.
The Female Changeling was the principal representative of the Founders, the shapeshifters who rule the Dominion from the Gamma Quadrant. She first met Odo when he returned to his people's homeworld and told him that the Founders, persecuted by solids for ages, had built the Dominion to impose order on the galaxy and protect themselves.
Throughout the Dominion War she guided the Vorta and Jem'Hadar, eventually directing operations from Cardassia Prime and maintaining a complicated, possessive relationship with Odo, whom she wished to bring home to the Great Link. Late in the conflict she, like the rest of her people, was stricken by a deadly disease that had been engineered by Section 31 and spread to the Founders through Odo.
In the final battle for Cardassia, Odo linked with her and passed on the cure, letting her experience his trust in the solids. Moved by what she saw, she ordered the Dominion forces to stand down and agreed to face trial, bringing the war to an end. Odo then returned to the Great Link to heal his people.
