The celebrated Federation diplomat who was the seventh host of the Dax symbiont and the mentor and close friend of Benjamin Sisko.
Curzon Dax was a Trill and the host of the Dax symbiont immediately before Jadzia. A brilliant, hard-living Federation ambassador, he spent much of his career dealing with the Klingon Empire and earned the friendship and respect of many Klingon warriors, including Kang, Kor and Koloth, with whom he swore a blood oath against a murderous enemy.
Curzon also took the young officer Benjamin Sisko under his wing, and the two became close friends; Sisko continued to call Jadzia old man in his honour. As a field docent he had Jadzia removed from the Trill initiate programme, and only reapplying later did she win the right to be joined. Years afterwards it emerged that he had dropped her because he had fallen in love with her.
When Jadzia used a Trill ritual to meet her past hosts, Curzon's memories were placed temporarily in Odo and were reluctant to leave. Curzon's personality, oath and friendships shaped many of the obligations Jadzia and later Ezri inherited.
