A vacation on Risa becomes a hotbed of intrigue.
Worf and Jadzia Dax head to the pleasure planet Risa, joined by Bashir, Leeta and Quark, but the trip soon exposes friction in their relationship. Worf grows jealous of Arandis, a Risian former lover of Curzon Dax, and is drawn to the New Essentialists, a group led by Pascal Fullerton that sees Federation comfort as moral decline.
Worf helps the group sabotage Risa's weather control system to ruin the resort's climate, and Fullerton goes further, using the device to trigger earthquakes. After confessing to Dax that he restrains himself because he accidentally killed a boy during a childhood soccer game, Worf forces Fullerton to stop. Bashir and Leeta formally end their relationship, and Leeta reveals an interest in Rom.
