A scheming Ferengi Commerce Authority liquidator who spent years trying to ruin Quark and gain power over the Ferengi Alliance.
Brunt was an agent of the Ferengi Commerce Authority, the body that enforces business law across the Ferengi Alliance. He first came into Quark's life while investigating Ishka, Quark's mother, for the crime of earning profit as a female, and from then on he treated Quark as a personal enemy and a threat to Ferengi tradition.
Over the years Brunt revoked Quark's business licence, tried to exploit the scandal surrounding Ishka's romance with Grand Nagus Zek, and repeatedly schemed to take the nagus's place for himself. Despite the rivalry, he once joined Quark's improvised team of Ferengi in rescuing Ishka from the Dominion, mostly because there was profit to be had.
Brunt embodied the old, rigid Ferengi establishment that resisted the reforms introduced by Ishka and Zek. His failure to stop those changes, and the eventual rise of Rom as Grand Nagus, marked the end of the order he defended. A mirror universe version of him appeared as a far kinder man.
