Star Trek: Section 31, released in 2025, follows Philippa Georgiou, the former emperor of the mirror universe, who now lives in the main universe. She is drawn into the work of Section 31, the secret intelligence organization of the Federation that operates outside the normal rules of Starfleet. The film continues a character who first appeared in Star Trek: Discovery.
Georgiou is part of a small group of misfits recruited for a dangerous mission to stop a threat that could endanger the galaxy. The story is an action adventure and focuses on how the team members, each with a troubled past, learn to work together. It examines the cost of secrecy and the moral compromises that go with protecting the Federation, as well as what it means for a person with a dark past to find a purpose.
