Jay-Den fears for his family after a Klingon refugee ship crashes, and his idea for a Klingon solution helps Ake and Vance give his people a new home.
During a debate class taught by the Doctor aboard the Athena, Jay-Den Kraag learns that a ship carrying most of the survivors of eight Klingon Houses has crashed, leaving his species near extinction and his family's fate unknown. Flashbacks show his youth as a refugee on Krios Prime, the death of his brother Thar, and his abandonment by his father after he refused to kill on a ritual hunt.
Admiral Vance finds a world, Faan Alpha, for the Klingons, and Ake approaches General Obel Wochak, who refuses charity. Jay-Den argues for a Klingon solution, so Ake and Vance stage a battle with harmless hits, surrender, and let Wochak claim the planet with honor intact. Wochak confirms Jay-Den's family survived. The episode was directed by Doug Aarniokoski and written by Gaia Violo and Eric Anthony Glover.
