An ancient tablet unleashes a Prophet and a Pah-wraith, who take over Kira and Jake to fight their prophesied battle on the station.
An archaeological dig on Bajor turns up an ancient tablet addressed to the Emissary, and Sisko brings it to the station over Kai Winn's objections. Dax's translation speaks of a coming Reckoning. Frustrated, Sisko smashes the tablet, releasing energies that soon take possession of Kira, who becomes the host of a Prophet.
A Pah-wraith then takes over Jake, and the two beings begin their battle on the Promenade while the station is evacuated. Sisko refuses to stop it, trusting the Prophets, but Winn floods the Promenade with radiation, ending the fight and driving both entities out. Kira later accuses Winn of acting from jealousy and warns that there will be consequences.
