Sisko organises a baseball game against a Vulcan team.

Captain Solok of the Vulcan ship T'Kumbra, a rival of Sisko since the Academy, docks at the station and challenges him to a holosuite baseball game against his all-Vulcan crew. Sisko assembles a team of friends and officers, few of whom have played, and drives them hard over two weeks of practice, dropping the hopeless Rom along the way.
Kasidy Yates reveals to the team why it matters: Solok once beat a drunken young Sisko in a wrestling match and wrote papers citing it as proof of Vulcan superiority. During the game the Logicians race ahead, and Sisko is ejected after touching umpire Odo. Reminded that baseball is unpredictable, he lets Rom back in, and Rom's accidental bunt scores the Niners' only run in a 10 to 1 loss. The team celebrates as if it had won, to Solok's confusion. A comic seventh-season episode, it brings together Sisko's passion for baseball and the found family around him.
