A freighter captain who became Sisko's wife.
Kasidy Yates is a freighter captain who becomes the romantic partner of Benjamin Sisko on Deep Space Nine. Independent, witty and practical, she makes her living hauling cargo and shows little interest in rules, which draws the attention of the station's security team.
Her relationship with Sisko develops slowly, tested by her involvement with the Maquis and by the pressures of the Dominion War. She eventually marries him, and the couple expect a child at the time Sisko disappears into the Celestial Temple. Her loyalty to him continues as she waits for his return.
Kasidy provides a grounded counterpoint to the cosmic and military storylines. She represents the personal stakes of a captain who has a life outside the uniform, and she becomes an important part of the Sisko family.
