A geneticist reveals Dal is augmented with other species' DNA, and an implant gives him powers he struggles to control.
At a starport in the Neutral Zone, the geneticist Dr. Jago tells Dal he is a human augmented with DNA from 26 other species, and gives him an implant to unlock his dormant abilities. Romulans try to steal the Protostar but need the captain's control to fly it, and they chase the crew.
Dal fights them off with his new powers but starts to lose control, and Murf helps drive off the rest. Zero removes the implant, returning Dal to normal. Aboard the Dauntless, Ensign Asencia reveals to the Diviner that she is the Vindicator, one of his people. Nikhil S. Jayaram wrote the episode.
