Risians

Hosts of the pleasure planet Risa

The humanoid natives of Risa, a world famous across the Federation as a vacation destination, kept pleasant by an advanced weather control system.

The Risians are the native people of Risa, a planet that has become one of the best-known holiday destinations in the Alpha Quadrant. Its once harsh climate is managed by a planetary weather control network, giving visitors sunshine and calm seas. Risians are humanoids who usually wear a small ornament on the forehead.
Risian culture celebrates pleasure, leisure and open hospitality. Visitors who want company display a horga'hn, a carved statue that signals a wish for jamaharon, the Risian notion of intimate relaxation. Their welcoming attitude has made Risa a regular stop for Starfleet crews on shore leave.
Risa has appeared across several series. In the Enterprise episode Two Days and Two Nights, Jonathan Archer's crew took their first shore leave there. In Captain's Holiday, Jean-Luc Picard's vacation turned into an adventure with Vash over a powerful artifact. In Let He Who Is Without Sin..., Worf joined a group that sabotaged the weather control system to protest the Federation's comfortable way of life.
