Seven and Janeway confront a group of geniuses.
Voyager is hunted by Hazari bounty hunters, and every escape plan fails. Kurros, the spokesman for a small group of brilliant aliens who solve problems for a price from a hidden ship, offers a way out. Janeway agrees to pay in technology, until Kurros adds that they also want Seven of Nine, and both women refuse.
The crew capture a Hazari ship and, studying its records, learn that the Think Tank itself hired the Hazari to corner Voyager and force the deal. Janeway joins forces with the Hazari and stages a battle, and Seven appears to give herself up in a shuttle. When Kurros links her to the group's shared telepathic network, the crew send a signal through her implants that shuts it down, and their ship drops out of hiding to face the angry Hazari while Seven is rescued. The fifth-season episode guest-stars Jason Alexander as Kurros and is a story about intelligence without ethics.
