Chakotay is plagued by hallucinations and a boxing match.
While Voyager is trapped in chaotic space, a region where the laws of physics keep shifting, Chakotay begins seeing and hearing things, including images from a boxing program he had been using on the holodeck. The Doctor finds a genetic marker for a cognitive disorder in his family, and Chakotay fears he is losing his mind as his grandfather did.
Chakotay comes to realize that aliens native to chaotic space are trying to reach him through his visions in order to help the ship escape. On a vision quest he faces his ring opponent and understands what they are telling him, then makes the adjustments that free Voyager. Former boxing champion Carlos Palomino appears as the alien boxer.
