Picard blockades the Klingon civil war as Romulans lend support.
The Klingon civil war rages on as the season opens. Picard persuades Starfleet to set up a blockade along the Romulan border to stop the Romulans from secretly supplying the Duras faction, and Data is given command of the USS Sutherland as part of the fleet, where his first officer doubts him. Worf, having resigned his Starfleet commission, fights alongside Gowron.
The Romulan commander Sela is revealed to be the daughter of the Tasha Yar from the timeline altered in Yesterday's Enterprise. Data disobeys an order to break formation and exposes the cloaked Romulan convoy with a tachyon detection net, and the Duras forces collapse. Gowron secures the Empire, and Worf spares the young Toral before returning to Starfleet.
