The first officer of the USS Sutherland who resented serving under Data during the blockade of Romulan supply lines.
Lieutenant Commander Christopher Hobson is assigned as first officer of the USS Sutherland when Data is given command of the ship. He openly doubts that an android can command a starship and is quick to question Data's orders.
In Redemption, Part II, the Sutherland joins Picard's blockade of Romulan supply ships helping the Duras family. Hobson objects when Data disobeys Picard's order to retreat and instead uses a tachyon pulse to expose a cloaked Romulan vessel. Data's success forces Hobson to accept that his commander's judgment was sound.
