Duras is a Klingon noble who appears in Star Trek: The Next Generation. He is an ambitious and treacherous man from a powerful house, and he is a bitter rival to Worf, whose family he has dishonored.
The feud begins when it is revealed that the betrayal of the Klingon outpost at Khitomer, for which Worf's father had been wrongly blamed, was committed by the father of Duras. Duras murders K'Ehleyr, Worf's mate, and Worf kills him in revenge. The consequences of this act echo through the story of the Klingon Empire, since the family of Duras, including his sisters Lursa and B'Etor, later aid in a civil war that threatens the empire's future.
