Klingons try to find a messiah.
An antique Klingon ship attacks Voyager, but its commander, Kohlar, changes his mind when he sees that B'Elanna Torres is pregnant. His people have travelled for generations in search of the Kuvah'magh, a promised saviour, and he believes Torres's unborn child is the one. The Klingons scuttle their ship and move aboard Voyager, crowding the crew, while a doubtful warrior, T'Greth, challenges Tom Paris to a duel and loses.
The Klingons carry a deadly illness, the nehret, which soon infects Torres and her baby. T'Greth and his supporters try to seize Voyager but are beaten back, and the Doctor finds a cure using stem cells from the unborn child. The Klingons settle on a planet, and Torres considers naming her daughter after the prophecy. A comic subplot sees Harry Kim pursued by a Klingon woman until Neelix steps in. The seventh-season episode looks at faith and belonging and at Torres's Klingon heritage.
