Vulcan Pon farr strikes Vorik and B'Elanna.
The young Vulcan engineer Vorik enters pon farr, the Vulcan mating drive, and after Torres rejects his advances he forces a telepathic link on her that passes the condition to her. On an away mission to the Sakari homeworld, Torres becomes increasingly aggressive and chooses Tom Paris as her mate, but he refuses to take advantage of her state.
Vorik arrives to claim her, and Torres fights him herself, which purges the fever from both of them. The ordeal leaves Torres and Paris acknowledging their feelings for each other. As the away team leaves, they discover that the invaders the Sakari had been hiding from were the Borg.
