Kai Opaka and Sisko are trapped on a moon where the dead are revived.
Kai Opaka asks Sisko to take her through the wormhole, and with Kira and Bashir they answer a distress call in the Gamma Quadrant. Their runabout is shot down over a moon and Opaka dies in the crash, but she soon returns to life.
The moon is a prison where two warring groups, the Ennis and the Nol-Ennis, are kept alive by technology on the moon so they can fight and die forever. Sisko tries to broker peace without success, and Kira faces her own violent past. Bashir finds that anyone revived this way cannot leave, so Opaka chooses to stay and try to help the two sides find peace.
