One of the first runabouts at Deep Space 9, which crash-landed on a Gamma Quadrant moon while carrying Kai Opaka in 2369.
The USS Yangtzee Kiang was one of the three Danube-class runabouts at Deep Space 9 when Starfleet arrived in 2369. In Past Prologue, the Bajoran militant Tahna Los took a runabout in a plan to collapse the wormhole, with Kira Nerys aboard.
In Battle Lines, the Yangtzee Kiang carried Sisko, Kira, Bashir and Kai Opaka through the wormhole, where an orbiting satellite shot it down onto a moon used as a prison. Opaka was killed in the crash and revived by microbes that kept the moon's inhabitants alive, and she chose to remain there. The runabout was the station's first to be lost.
