The Numiri are a Delta Quadrant people engaged in a long war with the Baneans. Their warships patrol the region around Banea and are quick to challenge outsiders who visit their enemies.
In the episode Ex Post Facto, Tom Paris was convicted of murdering a Banean scientist and sentenced to relive the victim's final moments through a memory implant. Tuvok's investigation proved that Paris had been framed and that the scientist's wife and her accomplice had been passing Banean weapons secrets to the Numiri, using the implant in Paris's mind to carry the stolen data. Numiri ships also attacked Voyager while it waited for the case to be resolved.
