The Ligonians are humanoids of Ligon II who live by a strict, formal code of honor. Their world is the only known source of a vaccine needed to fight an outbreak of Anchilles fever on Styris IV.
In Code of Honor, the Ligonian leader Lutan abducted Tasha Yar, a custom that raised his status, and declared her his new First One. That meant his current wife, Yareena, had to fight Yar to the death. Yar won, but Beverly Crusher revived Yareena, which freed her from the marriage, and the Ligonians handed over the vaccine.
