Ligon II is the home planet of the Ligonians, a strictly customary society that held the vaccine needed to stop an epidemic on Styris IV.
Ligon II is home to the Ligonians, whose culture is governed by elaborate codes of honour and status. In Code of Honor the Enterprise came to the planet to acquire a vaccine against Anchilles fever, which was spreading on Styris IV. Ligonian men hold political power, but land and wealth belong to the women.
The visit turned into a crisis when the leader Lutan abducted Tasha Yar and forced a ritual duel with his wife Yareena. The fight took place on the planet's surface before the Ligonians. Once the duel was resolved and leadership passed to Yareena's new partner, the crew received the vaccine.
