Saru's father, the priest of their Kelpien village on Kaminar, who upholds the rituals of offering their people to the Ba'ul.
Aradar is the father of Saru and Siranna, seen in the Short Trek The Brightest Star and played by Robert Verlaque. As the priest of their village on Kaminar, he presides over the pre-warp Kelpien society that accepts the harvesting of its people by the predatory Ba'ul as part of the natural order.
Young Saru longs for something beyond the village and his father's teachings. Using Ba'ul technology, he sends a signal into space that is answered by Lieutenant Philippa Georgiou, who invites him to join Starfleet and leave Kaminar behind.
