Picard confronts his Borg past aboard the Artifact, finds Soji as she learns she is an android, and escapes with her to Nepenthe.
Raffi obtains clearance for Picard to visit the Artifact, which forces him to face his memories of being assimilated. He reunites with Hugh, now director of the reclamation project.
Narek has been guiding Soji through a Romulan meditation to explore her dreams, from which she works out clues to where she was made. He then tells her she is not real and tries to kill her, but her defenses activate and she escapes. She meets Picard, and Hugh helps them escape through a spatial trajector to the planet Nepenthe, while Elnor beams aboard to help Hugh. Nick Zayas wrote the episode and Maja Vrvilo directed.
