Worf's brother Kurn comes to the station and wants to die.
Worf's brother Kurn arrives, having lost his position because Worf sided with the Federation against the Klingon invasion of Cardassia. Kurn wants Worf to give him an honourable death, but Dax and Odo interrupt the ritual and Bashir saves him, and Sisko forbids Worf from trying again. Kurn then joins Odo's security staff but fails at the job.
The Klingons are found to be secretly laying mines around Bajoran space, and Worf and Kurn go undercover to get the codes so that Kira can detonate them. Kurn kills a Klingon officer to protect Worf, which deepens his despair. Worf has Bashir erase Kurn's memories and give him a new identity, Rodek, so that he can live as a Klingon with a family friend.
