Archer is tried by a Klingon tribunal for helping refugees, with an aged advocate, Kolos, arguing in his defense.
Archer is arrested by the Klingons and put on trial on the colony of Narendra III, accused of conspiring against the Empire because he helped a group of rebels escape. His advocate, Kolos, is an aging Klingon who remembers when the Empire valued justice more than fighting.
Kolos defends Archer as best he can, but the tribunal sentences the captain to life on the penal asteroid Rura Penthe. T'Pol and the crew stage a rescue. Kolos's argument over Klingon traditions shows another side of the culture. The episode was directed by James L. Conway, with a teleplay by David A. Goodman.
