Wesley comes home as the Federation orders a colony to be moved.
Wesley Crusher returns to the Enterprise for a visit, and he is changed, more thoughtful and more distant. At the same time, the Federation orders the relocation of a group of colonists on Dorvan V, who are Native Americans who left Earth to preserve their way of life. Picard must carry out the order, which would force them from their homes.
The story gives Wesley a chance to make an important choice about his future, and to connect with the Traveler. It is a farewell to the character, with a message about heritage and conscience. The episode is a thoughtful drama, and it includes a debate about the Federation's rules and their human cost.
