Dorvan V is the home of a colony founded by descendants of Native Americans who spent two centuries searching for a world with the right spiritual qualities. Under a new treaty with the Cardassians, the planet is to be placed under Cardassian rule.
In Journey's End, Picard is ordered to remove the colonists, but they refuse to leave. The colonists eventually choose to renounce their Federation citizenship and stay on Dorvan V under Cardassian authority. During the crisis, Wesley Crusher undergoes a vision quest and decides to leave Starfleet Academy.
