Paris and B'Elanna's romance is complicated by a race.

Tom Paris and Harry Kim take the new Delta Flyer out and end up in a race with Irina, a pilot preparing for a contest meant to mark peace between several rival peoples. Janeway allows Voyager to enter the Flyer, but B'Elanna Torres feels neglected when Paris forgets their planned time off, and she begins to doubt their relationship.
Torres joins the race as Paris's co-pilot, and in the middle of it Paris stops the Flyer until they talk out their problems. Meanwhile Kim, now Irina's co-pilot, discovers that she means to wreck the peace by turning her ship into a bomb, and that she has planted one aboard the Flyer too. Paris and Torres eject the warp core in time. Before the race ends, Paris proposes marriage, and the two marry and set off in the Flyer on their honeymoon. The seventh-season episode is a romantic adventure built around Paris and Torres's relationship, which it brings to a wedding.
